Tsuneo Hase

A genius solo climber, three years younger than Habu. In contrast to Habu he has a bright and friendly personality but he has the same ambition and single-mindedness when it comes to mountain climbing. A rival to him, he was the first person to succeed climbing the northern face of Matterhorn solo in winter and received global attention after that. He also succeeded in climbing Eiger solo. Like Habu, he participated in the Tokyo Mountaineering Club's Everest expedition and climbed from the southeast ridge.

He is inspired by Tsuneo Hasegawa (長谷川 恒男).
