Hikaru is the protagonist and serves as the narrator of the series. He possesses the ability to emit light, a relatively modest power in a world where everyone has some form of supernatural ability. He tends to have a somewhat downcast demeanor, avoids troublesome situations, and often provides commentary on his friends' actions from a slight distance.
