Kou is a teenage boy and adopted family of the shenguai Chiyou. He is the protagonist of the manga series Kaedegami.

Kou is a teenage boy of average height. He has bright, light blue eyes and shoulder-length black hair with red highlights, kept in a short braid on his right side. He wears black robes over a red undershirt and plain black pants. While possessed by Chiyou, he gains a full-body black cloak with a white furry outline on its hood and a gold trim.

As a child, he wore a white shirt, his hair was shorter, and it lacked the braid.
