Kagari Hosho

Kagari is a mysterious girl who has allied herself with Hakubi. How the pair came to know one another is equally cryptic. Kagari has an understanding of cursing that far outweighs her youth. Additionally she is not a virtual immortal like the surviving onmyoji from the temple in the Heian period. Instead she is a normal high school girl living in the 1920s.

Kagari specializes in the use of needles in her curses. She uses a "puppet needle" that had been passed down through her family in order to control Mao and make him attack his friends. With it she is even able to force him to transform into his powerful cat-body form in order to test Soma's summoned beast. Kagari reveals that Hakubi tracked down her father during his military service and discovered the pupplet needle was in the Hosho family's possession. Because the needle was a stolen artifact from Hakubi's temple, he immediately pressed the family into his service.

Later it is discovered that she attends a local girls school where she insinuates herself with other girls who pretend to curse their classmates. However they quickly realize that Kagari does a great deal more than merely play with curses when she is able to cause a classmate to have constant nightmares of dying for five days straight without waking up.
