Dr. Doriru
γγͺγ«ε士
A mandrill-type beastman scientist who serves as the research chief of the "Human No. 01" Special Audit Committee organized within the Beastmen Federation. His nickname among readers is "Professor Monkey." He is quite elderly and uses a simple walking stick to assist with mobility. He also seems to be well-acquainted with many high-ranking government officials.
He has looked upon Human No. 01, who he believes has undergone a similar evolutionary path to the beastmen, or even reached a more advanced stage, with a certain degree of certainty from the beginning. He considered the possibility that Human No. 01, a human considered a "fictional, inferior creature" among the beastmen, might possess a superior intelligence.
He was astonished when he witnessed Human No. 01's writing ability, which Toneriko had dismissed as merely "imitation of beastmen." Soon after, they were able to communicate through written notes in beastman script, and Toneriko became so engrossed in the conversation that he neglected his work, eventually collapsing from exhaustion and requiring recuperation.
He seemed to have become quite close to Hitoshi, also known as Unit 01, and Hitoshi even sent him a get-well letter while he was recuperating. When Toneriko attempted to force through the final report meeting of the "Human" special audit in opposition to the Security Committee's disciplinary action against Hitoshi, he rejoined the audit team and, along with other staff, supported the worldwide broadcast of the meeting. He soon greeted Hitoshi upon his release from imprisonment.
Afterward, he reappointed himself as an advisor to the "Human Research Committee," and together with Toneriko, who had become completely devoted to Hitoshi after the series of events, he supported Hitoshi's life in the Federation while continuing his research into his homeland, "Human Earth."
As a scientist, he is realistic and far removed from romance, sometimes pouring cold water on Toneriko's hopes.
