Toutou Cang Bu Zhu began as a web novel on Jinjiang Wenxue Cheng (晋江文学城) where 89 chapters were released from January 22, 2019, to April 24, 2019. It was published in print by Qingdao Publishing Group (青岛出版集团) on April 30, 2020. It was adapted into a live-action Chinese TV drama.
