Before making his professional debut as a writer, Tappei worked in a butcher shop, which allows him to joke that the experience he gained there still helps him write detailed and colorful descriptions of the injuries and deaths of characters in ReZero.

A close friend and colleague since the self-published times of Natsume Akatsuki, the author of another popular LN isekai series "Konosuba". Together they often gave interviews or participated in fan events.
