His debut work, Kaiketsu Shiro Manto received honorable mention in a manga contest by Shuueisha in 1960. He worked as an assistant of Kaizuka Hiroshi afterwards, and started living as a professional mangaka after 1962.
His most notable works are Yuuyake Banchou, which was adapted into an anime, and Cycle Yarou.
In his later years he wrote several manga on historical and buddhistic topics.
