Ryuutarou Nakamura is an avant-garde anime director often praised for his use of sound. He has directed some of the most notable anime in history including Serial Experiments Lain, Kino no Tabi, and Ghost Hound.
Nakamura died in 2013 after months of hospitalization while fighting pancreatic cancer.
